Nannies and au pairs in London are set to become part of the greener, more environmentally friendly scheme dreamed up by a London borough.
Although there are many nanny agencies and aupair agencies that offer au pairs in London, one area of the capital has come up with an interesting way to keep the nannies in London in work.
Recycling nannies in London is the latest idea from officials in Richmond upon Thames. The pilot scheme will now see au pairs and nannies in London being reused by residents living in the local area.
According to an article published by website, Newsbiscuit, foreign au pairs and nannies that have come from overseas to work in London as child minders, will now be able to stay in work for a little longer.
Once their services are no longer required by one family, the scheme is designed to help them be placed with another family living in the same area. In this way, the nannies will be ‘recycled’ by local residents which is great news for all involved.
Since launching the pilot scheme at the beginning of November this year, many nannies in London have found new work within a shorter space of time meaning they are able to help out families that need a little extra help while keeping themselves in employment at the same time.
Speaking to the website about the recycling scheme, one of the main organisers, Martin Hall said it was a great way to help families and workers during these tough economic times.
He said: “The credit crunch has hit many of our middle class families quite severely and many of them are having to cut back.
“But now Eastern European employees can be used again and again, cutting down on flights home, distressed telephone calls and embarrassing emotional situations.”
