Your Application
First impressions count and your application to a nanny job and your CV is no exception.
When applying with us please ensure that you have sent us all relevant information.
What we look for:
• Recent, related experience, minimum of 2 years for nanny work or other for mothers help/junior nanny or aupair work
• A good work history that does not show any gaps – any gaps in your work history should be accounted for.
• Short, concise information is important – applications that provide unrelated information will only cloud over the related experience
• Presentation – a well presented CV will always get more attention, this includes special attention to checking spelling and grammar. We can help with your cv and send you a cv example when you register.
• Honesty – be honest in your application and make sure you back up your comments with evidence of experience. Reason for leaving various jobs
• Chronological – we always advise to start with your most recent job and work backwards. CVs should only be 2 pages long and you should be conscious of writing copious details on jobs many years ago particularly if they bear no relevance to your current application.
Your CV or Curriculum Vitae is a marketing tool. It enables you to promote yourself, much like a brochure; it will enable you to list your skills and experiences. When writing your CV try to look at it from an employer’s point of view-would your CV stand out against the other candidates and what would make the employer pick you over the competition?

Applying for Jobs
• When emailing or telephoning an agency about a job, be clear on which position you are interested in and try to make a note of the job ref number
• Be realistic in your expectations when applying for positions. Although some elements of a job can be negotiable, a position will be advertised in a certain way to attract the right candidates with the right skills. And please be relaistic with the salary as well. Our jobs are advertised in net salaries so you need to ask us about the gross (total per annum) to get a clear picture.

- If you are late, then please call the family or us and inform them / us
- Don’t take your friends with you to the interviews
- Smile and introduce yourself properly
- Try to make a good impression as this might be the interview that will guarantee you the job! And don’t forget – the first impression is the most important!
- Try to speak to the children if they are present
- Be prepared for the questions that you might be asked. Make sure that you know the dates on your CV etc.

- Tell them about what you did in previous jobs, what you enjoyed doing with the children etc
- Even if you have some reservations about the role, try and be positive! If you have never done something before, but you would consider doing it, then say that you don’t mind learning. You can discuss your concerns with your nanny consultant after the interview
- Try to answer the questions confidently. If there is something that you do not understand, please ask the family
- Most families want the nanny to stay a minimum 12 months so please make sure they know you are available for that period
- Tell the families that you are flexible with baby sitting, duties and that you are nice and tidy etc
- Thank the family for their time and smile again!
