Insurance, health and safety
Make sure to register the au-pair with the family’s doctor. Most au-pairs are able to use the National Health Service in case of accident or illness. Au-pairs from outside the EEC must ask their home country if separate medical insurance is required before coming to the UK. Also, make sure that you give your telephone numbers where you can be contacted in case of emergency. Make sure that your au-pair knows how to contact police, fire and ambulance.
Its up to the aupair to decide if she/he wishes to purchase an additional medical, travel, aupair or other insurance for their stay in your country.
Au-pair Legality/Status
Most au-pairs we place are from the EU and they do not need a work permit to work in the UK but we also place a lot of fab Romanian au-pairs as well but there are special regulations for them to work in theUK.
Romanian Au-pairs needs an Accession worker card in order to be registered as a worker in UK.
To obtain an Accession Worker Card, they must apply to the Home Office and we have in-house help with this.
