Au-pair Europe


We place aupairs in all of Europe.

 

The countries we currently have available are listed below:

 

We work with agencies overseas and will help you with your application and to match you with a family. We will also help you prepare for your time away. You will have a local representative wherever you travel.

 

You will travel to the destination on an EU passport and we will help you with all the logistics. You pay for your own travel (sometimes the families will reimburse the cost if you stay the agreed time)

 

The European au-pair programme is different depending on what country you will travel and you can find some info below. Some families may pay you more money then is listed below.


All programmes offer a unique opportunity to live abroad affordably, make new friends and experience new adventures!

 

GERMANY

Requirements:
* Age: 18-30
* Have some previous experience with children
   (babysitting, camping, etc)
* Native English speakers can apply without any German knowledge.
   Other nationalities will need to speak basic German.
* Have practical childcare experience and references to prove it
* Hold a secondary school diploma or equivalent

Benefits
In return for 30 hours of work per week you can expect:
* Board and your own private room
* 250-350 Euros in pocket money per month
* 4 weeks paid vacation if you stay for the full year
   (respectively 2 days per month)
* Monthly transportation card or use of family car
* Basic accident and illness insurance (important)

 


 


SWEDEN


Requirements

* Age: between 18 and 30
* Visas: Au pairs from Nordic countries do not need a work permit or a residence permit to work in Sweden. Au pairs from EEA* countries do not need a work permit to work in Sweden. However, if they are employed for more then 3 months, they have to apply for a residence permit.
* Health Insurance: It is not a requirement to have insurance to work in Sweden however, it is advised that you have both health and travel insurance
A work permit can be granted for a period of 12 months maximum. It cannot be renewed.

The au pair needs this employment offer to apply for a work permit
Young people who want to work as an au pair in Sweden should have an expressed interest in learning Swedish and should be able to prove that they'll benefit from studies in the Swedish language and culture.

Benefits

In return for 25 hours of week per work you can expect
* A private room and board
* At least 3,500 SEK per month before tax in pocket money per month




SPAIN


Requirements:
* Be between 18 and 30 years old.
* Have some child care experience.
* Speak basic conversational Spanish (not mandatory).
* Be able to make a 1, 2, 3 (only in summer), 6, 9 or a 12 month commitment or be able to stay in Spain until the June 15th, regardless of when you arrive.

In summer, stays can be as short as one month. Most summer placements happen after June 15th when the children in Spain get out of school, regardless if they are one month stays or three month stays.


Benefits
In return for 30 hours of work per week you can expect:
* Board and a private room
* 50-60 Euros per week
* 2-4 weeks of paid vacation, if you stay the whole year (2 days per month)

Accident and illness insurance is not included.



FRANCE

Requirements:
* You must be between 18 and 28 years old
* You must be unmarried.
You need prior knowledge of French and you come to France to develop your l* anguage skills.
* The au pair contract can be anywhere between 3 months and for up to 1 year. But the duration of the stay can be prolonged for a further 6 months.
* Au pairs have to take part in French lessons for foreigners. The au pair must pay for the fees herself/himself.


Benefits

In return for 30 hours of work per week you can expect:
* Board and your own private room
* 65 Euros each week + 20Euros towards help with French lessons, total amount 75 Euros
* 2-4 weeks of paid vacation, if you stay the whole year (2 days per month)
* The family will pay for a bus card or petrol for the car so that you can travel to your language courses, 52 Euro per month
* Basic accident and illness insurance (important)


 

HOLLAND

 

Requirements:
* Be between 18 and 25 years old
* Have practical child care experience
* Speak English (or French or German or Dutch) at a reasonable level.
* Be a high school graduate or have an equivalent degree.
* You must agree to a one year commitment unless agreed differently.
* Shorter term summer positions are also available sometimes.
* You cannot have participated in an Au Pair program to the Netherlands before.


Benefits
In return for 30 hours of work per week you can expect:
* Board and lodging
* You will  work max. 30 hours a week, with 2 days off per week and once a month, a full weekend
* You will receive € 300, pocket money per month for 30 hours per week depending on qualifications
* If you stay for the whole year you will receive €600. (Summer au pairs do not receive this bonus.)
* After a six months stay, you will be entitled to a 1-week holiday. During this week you will receive pocket money as usual. For a 12-month stay you are entitled to a 2-week holiday
* The family will insure you in Holland.
