To be au pair or nanny in Australia, you need to have a valid passport and qualify for a ‘working holiday visa’. You apply for the visa before you travel but after you have been "matched" with a family.
http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/417/ for most European passport holders.
Alternatively http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/462/ may be applicable.
For the au pair programme you must fit the following:
- Age 19 – 30 (Working Holiday Visa)
- be unmarried and have no children
- be flexible, friendly and open
- be happy to help with childcare and light housework, usually up to 30 hours per week
- able to stay for a period of 6 months (after this you can go travelling or go to another host family – this is a visa restriction you must respect!)
- be fit, healthy and have no criminal record
Applicants that do not have a drivers licence, are vegetarian or are fussy on the age of the children they are willing to care for will slow down their placement as we have less families for these applicants.
If you are very specific about the location we advice not to write it in the profile but just to let us know and we can try BUT the more flexible you are the quicker you will get placed.
