We run Pediatric Child Safety & First Aid courses.
Please email or call us to book. These classes get booked up well in advance.
First aid course dates 2008:
In an emergency you need to react quickly and effectively. Knowing
what to do could save a child's life.
All our courses comply with both British and European Resuscitation guidelines. Delivered by paediatric specialists, the course includes both theory and practical sessions.
This course is suitable for Nannies wishing to join the Voluntary
part of the Ofsted Childcare Register (OCR). It is also suitable for Au Pairs,
Babysitters, Parents and anybody who cares for children and needs a basic
course.
COURSE COST:
£100+VAT per person (£117.50)
There is no set minimum that this course should take. Our syllabus meets the needs of the Voluntary part of the Ofsted Childcare Register, which many Nannies are now opting to join.
The OCR required syllabus covers such topics as:
First Aid Priorities / Dealing with an Emergency
Choking
Resuscitation (CPR) - Child and Baby
Anaphylaxis
Bleeding and Shock
Burns & Scalds
Eye & Ear injuries
Fractures
Childhood illnesses including Meningitis and Febrile Convulsions
Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the delegate,
there is no final examination. Those delegates who complete the course, and
are deemed to have reached the required standard, are awarded a certificate
that is valid for three years.
This course is 6 hours approx and even if a 12 hour course is not required by Ofsted (which a lot of people seem to believe) we also run the 12 hour courses. If you care for children under the age of 5 you may prefer to join in one of the 12 hour courses. Please contact us for more info on these courses. The guidance from Ofsted regularly highlights the need for the training to be relevant to the age of the child / children being cared for.
It is important to note that changes regularly occur, so relevant websites are listed below so you can stay up-to-date with the requirements:
