When I found myself victim to the stereotypical nanny crisis, Peekaboo was the only agency actually to return my call promptly, and Elaine intuited my needs much more quickly than any other agency had previously. She also sent me interviewees within days and did not forget about me. As it happened, like the friend who recommended Peekaboo to me, I in fact hired the first girl she sent me, which is an indication of how well she understood what I need. The service has always been speedy and professional. I will only use Peekaboo from now on.

Our Swedish au-pair Stina, came to work for us in September last year. She is our first au-pair and we had Peek-a-boo recommended to us by friends who had been using their services. I contacted them in July to make sure we had plenty of time to find the most suitable person for us. After a week or so, Sara at the agency contacted us and told us about three or four girls they though might suite us. I read through their letters carefully and finally we decided that we wanted to contact Stina, who seemed to be our "match". We spoke a few times over the phone and seemed to get on straight away. We decided that she was the right one and I guess she felt the same way. She has now been with us for 6 months and was supposed to leave this month but decided to stay for at least another 6 months. At first, she didn't know anyone in London but we introduced her to other au-pairs in the area and she went to the au-pair meetings and meet lots of new friends. She has just finished her English course and is looking forward to spend her free time at the nearby gym and with her new friends. Since we had never had anyone looking after our two boys, Nick and David before, we were a little bit nervous about how they would react with a new person in the house. It took David, our oldest son, about a day or so to feel comfortable around her. Nick got used to Stina after a few weeks or so and now he just won't leave her alone. It really has been a great experience having Stina here with us. Not only because she is a helping hand around the house but also because she is such a lovely and caring person. I feel that we have been very lucky in our choice and hope that Peek-a-boo will be able to help match us with our next au-pair after the summer. If Stina decides to leave that is!

Hello there, Sara asked me to write a letter about our experience with our Mothers' help, Helena who just left us after 12 great months. Helena came to us just over a year ago from Stockholm, Sweden where she is from. She had been working in a Swedish Childcare centre for two years and had a few friends who lived here in Dublin at the time. She wanted to experience a year away from home and since she was experienced in looking after children, she decided to make the most of that and work as a mothers' help. She has been a great help for my whole family. I went back to work part-time from home a month or so before Helena came to us. We started off working together with the children until they got to know each other better. After a while we gave her more responsibilities and she was working sole charge from time to time. For the first time in 6 years I actually got the opportunity to concentrate on myself a little bit more and I got so much more time over to relax. I started going to the gym a few times a week and took up my aerobic classes. Things that I thought I wouldn't be able to do again until the kids were all grown up. At home Helenahelped with the cooking, ironing and other household duties and she was always very happy to help. Since she was a driver, she normally took the kids to and from school and their various activities. She also used to baby-sit a few times a week, which gave me and my husband time to go out for meals, to the cinema and we got to see our friends without the kids. We considered her as a family member and hope that she will keep in touch with us in the future. We hope that she enjoyed her stay with us as much as we did.
